How I landed a job at Deloitte?
Hey everyone. Hope you all are doing good amidst the lockdown. As some of you know that I now started my professional career as a Google Cloud Consultant at Deloitte, I’ve been getting constant enquiries on how I landed a job there. So, I thought of writing this to share with you how I landed at Deloitte.
How it reached me?
You all might know that I’m certified on Google Cloud as a Professional Cloud Architect and as an Associate Cloud Engineer. I have also built a profile in the Google Cloud Credential Directory. One fine day, I received a mail from Deloitte. The body of the mail was brief asking me if I was interested in a position at Deloitte for their Business Operations — Google Cloud. I reverted the mail showing my interest. After a few hours, I received a phone call from HR at Deloitte and she briefly told me about the role they’re hiring for. As almost 80% of my vision aligned with the role, I decided to move forward. She told me that the role was for an immediate starter and that they got my profile from the Google Credential Directory. As they had to wrap up the process quickly, she quickly told me about the different rounds involved in the process.
There were three rounds: an aptitude, a group discussion(GD), and a final interview. The aptitude was scheduled for the very next day. I went forward to take the test and I was able to sail through it smoothly. The next day, they reached me to say that I got shortlisted for the GD round. Another thing they mentioned was that if I cleared the GD round, I’ll be having my final interview in a couple of hours after the GD. So, I revisited my Google Cloud knowledge and my projects done on Google Cloud Platform as a preparation for the interview.
Group Discussion (GD)
The next day morning, I received the schedule for the GD. There were five of us, each of who were Google Cloud Certified. The GD started and we were given a case study where we had to discuss it and come up with a solution. I was able to perform the GD well and my mind whispered to me to get ready for the final interview.
An hour later, I received another mail that had the schedule for the final interview. I quickly recollected everything and got ready for the interview. The interviewer briefed me about the role and the organization. Then, he went on to ask about my experience with Google Cloud and the projects where I used the Google Cloud Platform. He asked about the business aspects of the projects I have done and I was able to answer those questions quite clearly. After some 20 minutes, the interview was finished and he asked me if I had any questions for him. I asked what I had in my mind and he said that HR would contact me with the updates.
After two days, HR called me to say that I have been selected and two more days later, I received the selection mail. Within the next two days, the salary compensation and package details were discussed and I accepted the offer. And as of 14th June 2021, I have started my professional career in the corporate world as a Google Cloud Consultant. The desired job in a Big 4 company.
What else can give a boost to my starting point?
Initially when I joined Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science I never had a thought or vision to become a pioneer in the IT industry. But, as the time flew, maturity hit me and I wanted to set goals for the short-term and long-term. My college has also been equally supportive throughout my transition process. Now, I look forward to tackling the real-world challenges and learning the pros and cons of each approach and the decisions I should be taking in the future. I have a plethora of things to learn, a lot to demonstrate and plenty to achieve. With that being said, if I can reach here, you can also reach higher. Just that you have to be determined and hardworking. Give some time and it will pay off, just like how it did for me.
Don’t stop hustling. Work hard and achieve big.
I hope you’ll have a great career ahead of you. Thanks for reading. All the best and have a great day…
